Interested in working for Global Witness? Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about our recruitment process.

Can I apply for more than one vacancy?

You can apply for any vacancies you consider suitable, and you will be considered for each one separately. Applying for more than one vacancy will not have any impact on your recruitment application.

How do I speak to someone prior to application?

Due to large volume of applications and for fairness we can’t provide you with the opportunity to talk to the recruiting manager before you apply.

I do not have the right to work in the country of the vacancy, can I still apply?

For many of our roles, candidates must have the pre-existing right to work in the country where the job is based. Occasionally, if a role is particularly hard to fill we will be able to provide visa sponsorship. Where this is the case it will be clearly stated in the job ad.

Why do I have to submit equality and diversity monitoring information along with my application?

Global Witness wants to meet the aims and commitments set out in its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy. We need your help and co-operation to enable us to do this but providing the information is completely voluntary and does not have any impact on your application.

The information you provide is not shared with the recruitment panel, will be kept confidential and is only used for monitoring purposes.

I’d like to delete an application, how do I do this?

You can amend, delete or withdraw an application by emailing [email protected]

Why are most vacancies a 20-month contract?

We have recently received a one-off boost to our income from one of our funders. This additional funding is over a two-year period and we are recruiting a number of roles to contribute to the organisation and deliver our commitments.

Can I work remotely?

We operate a hybrid working policy requiring all staff to attend two days a week in all our offices.

How do interviews work at Global Witness?

The format of interviews may vary depending on the role and we will let you know in good time what the format of the interview will be. Interviews can be in person or virtual.

You can expect the following if you are invited to attend an interview:

  • You will receive the interview questions a week ahead of your interview date
  • There will be a minimum of two and a maximum of three interviewers

I applied but have not heard back. Can I get feedback?

We really appreciate the time everyone makes with their application. Due to the volumes of applications we receive we can only contact those candidates selected for interview. If you have not heard from us within three weeks of the closing date of the role then you should assume you haven’t been shortlisted this time.

Can I send you a speculative CV?

We do not accept speculative applications. We advertise our vacancies on our jobs page, social media channels and other job boards.

Can I send you a CV for an internship?

All our internships are advertised on our jobs page as and when we have opportunities available. We pay all our interns a living wage and offer an experience where you will develop, gain new skills and experience.

I have some recruitment feedback, how can I let you know?

We welcome feedback on any part of your recruitment experience with us. Please send in details to [email protected].
