Excerpt of US Financial Reform Act 2010 - section 1502

Provisions in the U.S. Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (also known as the Financial Reform Act) will require companies whose products contain cassiterite (tin ore), coltan (tantalum ore), wolframite (tungsten ore) and gold to disclose to the Securities and Exchange Commission whether they are sourcing these minerals from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries. Companies will have to detail the measures they have taken to avoid sourcing these minerals from Congolese armed groups, which are guilty of massacres and other atrocities. The bill requires that all information disclosed be independently audited.

Global Witness is making available online in French and English Section 1502 on conflict minerals. The French translation, commissioned by Global Witness, is not official and has not been approved by the U.S. Government. To our knowledge, it is the only French translation of the legislation publicly available.
