Join Global Witness as a Senior Campaigner to highlight the critical work that land and environmental defenders do around the world.
The food we eat, the rings on our fingers and the furniture in our homes. All too often, there is a violent reality behind these everyday items.
At Global Witness we investigate and campaign to protect human rights and the environment by exposing corruption in the global trade in land and natural resources, and challenging the systems that enable it.
About the role
You’ll join the newly expanded Defenders team in campaigning to reduce threats and attacks against people who defend their land, rivers and forests from land grabbing and environmental destruction by industries like mining, logging and large-scale agriculture.
You’ll help us to raise international awareness of the broad range of abuses that defenders and their communities face, advocating governments, companies and investors to end the destructive practices.
This role will involve seeing or hearing about human rights abuses and Global Witness will always provide you with support to manage your mental well-being.
You’ll have a proven track record for achieving change through advocacy, and will be great at spotting opportunities for action and deciding on effective campaigning strategies and tactics.
You’ll bring your experience of working alongside like-minded organisations, as well as being an excellent communicator who is used to producing a range of content for a diverse range of audiences.
