The UK's corruption problem

Progress made and progress that needs to be made in the UK's overseas territories.

Seven of the UK’s Overseas Territories are infamous for the role they play as secrecy jurisdictions. This report examines the progress that these seven Territories have made towards transparency in the last two years. We have graded each of the Territories as green, yellow, orange or red for their commitments with respect to tax and beneficial ownership transparency.

Global Witness and partners have written to the Prime Minister urging him to push the UK's Overseas Territories to set up registries of the real owners of companies. Click here to read an article on this in the Financial Times.
