Global Witness demande aux entreprises de s’assurer que les minerais qu’elles achètent ne reviennent ni à financer des groupes armés ou des unités militaires, ni ne contribuent à des violations des droits de l’homme à quelque étape que ce soit de la chaîne d’approvisionnement. Si de telles garanties ne peuvent être fournies, elles devraient refuser d’acheter ces minerais.
Global Witness demande aussi aux gouvernements de rendre responsables les entreprises immatriculées dans leur pays qui se livrent en toute connaissance de cause au commerce de minerais bénéficiant aux parties belligérantes dans l’est de la RDC ou qui n’observent pas une procédure de diligence raisonnable quand à l’origine de leurs marchandises.
